Job description

We are seeking an energetic Field Service Technician who is passionate about customer service, quality, and keen to learn and contribute in a positive, high-performing team environment. Candidates need to be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to projects. The ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implements solutions. Candidates must also have the ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services and or processes to evaluate quality and performance. A requirement for this position is the ability to travel and service international customers.

Position Summary:

  • Location of work – servicing customers onsite in Ottawa/Gatineau, the surrounding area and internationally.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining field gas detection instrumentation of all makes and models in a wide variety of environments (e.g. parking garages, manufacturing plants, research labs, etc.).
  • While most of your work will be independently performed after a suitable training period, you will be collaborating with the other technicians on our team of Field Technicians and support staff as well as our equipment sales team to deliver the best possible solution for our clients.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to travel and service international customers
  • Calibration and repair of sensor/transmitters, and other electronic devices
  • Verification of control systems (Ventilation, Building Automation Systems)
  • Maintain and submit accurate electronic records
  • Warranty evaluation and documentation
  • Inventory control
  • Seek and identify opportunities for equipment upgrades to deliver increased safety or energy conservation
  • Seek and solicit new revenue opportunities for the company
  • Technical phone support
  • Ability to work on ladders and lifts
  • Ability to work in confined space
  • Deliver equipment performance feedback
  • Flexibility to respond to emergency service calls – typically once or twice a year outside of regular hours

Experience:

Previous on the job training related to troubleshooting or repair background

Supply of suitable personal vehicle for travel on a day to day basis

Required Skills:

Strong communication verbal and written skills, trouble shooting capabilities, self motivated, independent thinker, presents well to customers.

Ability to secure Government security clearance requirements. Valid Passport and OHIP coverage. Proof of vaccinations.

Education:

Electronic Technician Diploma or better

Certification/Licensing:

G Drivers License required and current drivers abstract required
