The Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic at Sandvik is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical aspects of Battery Electric mining equipment and components according to defined specifications. This role also includes new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites.

What you will be doing
- Maintaining and servicing equipment
- Planning for the correct tools and parts required to perform tasks, following all work procedures
- Commissioning products, including pre-delivery inspections and hot commissioning at operational sites
- Conducting root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve common problems as a first line support
- Identifying components, understanding their basic functionality, and performing maintenance and repairs, including preventive and cost-efficient repairs
- Supporting customer processes by suggesting improvements (according to sales area requirements)
- Using knowledge and experience to solve standard customer problems
- Understanding system functionalities and interactions of hydraulics, mechanics, electric, automation, pneumatics, and materials
- Completing maintenance reports for stakeholders, reporting and documenting work done, and obtaining customer authorization for invoicing
- Occasionally collecting technical feedback for the Sales Area and inputting it into the database
- Assigning simple tasks to junior staff and guiding them in their completion
- Coaching customer technicians on basic servicing and maintenance principles
- Carrying out all routine work procedures safely, using the provided tools
Environmental Health and Safety
- Complying with Sandvik's safety policies and relevant regulations
- Reporting unsafe work habits, incidents, or near misses and performing risk assessments before tasks
- Maintaining hand tools and equipment for safe operation
- Ensuring a tidy work area and meeting housekeeping standards
- Attending EHS trainings and wearing required PPE
What you will bring along
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Field and Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic License
- At least 3 years of related experience with mining equipment (asset)
- Experience with Sandvik equipment (asset)
- Proficiency in reading schematics
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues
- Strong communication skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Western Canada
- Ability and willingness to work varied shifts
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
