Join a Trusted Team. Build a Career. Make an Impact.

Harold Snow Service Group has been a name trusted across Atlantic Canada since 1943. We’re the go-to team for installing, servicing, and repairing commercial food and laundry equipment for restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, and more.

As we grow our service presence in Nova Scotia, we’re looking for a mechanically minded, independent technician to join us on the ground floor — someone who’s hands-on, a real problem solver, ready to take ownership of their work, and loves travelling around the province.

This isn’t your average service job. It’s a chance to build something with us — backed by 80+ years of experience and strong demand for what we do.

If this sounds like YOU - apply now!

Send your resume and a brief note about yourself to info@haroldsnow.ca.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Field Service Technician, your job will be to:

  • Troubleshoot and repair commercial food and laundry equipment
  • Perform white-glove installations and preventative maintenance
  • Talk directly with customers and help them decide: fix or replace?
  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to get technical answers fast
  • Travel independently to customer sites around HRM and occasionally to Truro, Wolfville, South Shore, Moncton, and beyond
  • Source your own parts, complete work orders, and keep records up to date
  • Be an ambassador — most of our best work comes from referrals

When not at a client site, you'll work from our Dartmouth office/shop at Big Erics — sourcing parts, organizing your service calls, or completing minor in-house repairs.

Who You Are

You don’t need to have worked on this exact equipment before — we’ll train you. But you do need to be:

  • Mechanically inclined with solid troubleshooting skills
  • Comfortable working alone most days (you’re the face of the company!)
  • A good communicator — someone who can explain a problem and offer solutions
  • Organized, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Someone who likes the idea of getting out of the shop and into the field

What You Bring

  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license (company vehicle provided for work use)
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Comfortable using tools, tablets, and basic computer programs

Nice to Have

  • Experience in food/laundry equipment repair is a big asset (but not required)
  • Available for some overtime and on-call emergency work (paid)
  • Willingness to travel for training (2 weeks in Newfoundland + 1 month vendor training)
  • The following certifications are assets (but not required): WHMIS, Fall Arrest, Confined Spaces, Propane handling, Refrigeration, Red Seal, G-2 Gas, Electrician

What We Offer

  • $25–$35/hr to start (based on experience and certifications)
  • Paid overtime for emergency calls
  • Company vehicle provided during work hours
  • All travel costs covered for training in Newfoundland and vendor locations
  • Ongoing support from our experts in the field
  • Flexible workdays: typically 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • Independence and variety – no two days are the same
  • Opportunity to grow as we build the Nova Scotia team

Why This Job Is Different

You won’t be just another technician. You’ll be a core part of our growth in Nova Scotia, helping us build a presence, reputation, and team from the ground up. If you’ve worked for big box service companies and felt like just a number, you’ll appreciate the respect, flexibility, and opportunity to make an impact here.
