Siemens Energy – Grid Technologies PFS Service provides a comprehensive service portfolio including turnkey installation and commissioning, repair, refurbishment and spares for OEM and non-OEM power transformers, AIS and GIS equipment and associated parts and accessories.

The Field Service Technician 1 (FST1) is a senior field service technician responsible for the successful execution of projects with focus on safety, cost, quality and schedule in the power delivery and utility space. Projects include transformer assembly, installation commissioning, maintenance, repair and upgrade. Also included are High Voltage gas insulated switchgear, air insulated switchgear and breaker assembly, installations, commissioning, maintenance and repair. The FST1 will often be appointed as crew lead and will have additional responsibilities, including managing a team dispatched to project sites to execute specific scopes of work. The successful candidate will have experience managing contracted vendors, providing direction to field service personnel, coordinating factory operations, leading project activities, inter-departmental communication, operational logistics, and technical reporting.

This position reports directly to the Field Service Supervisor and has performance reporting responsibilities to team leaders within Siemens Energy Grid Technologies.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Perform complex field service operations requiring strong technical skills.
• Take on roles such as Crew Leader, Technical Field Advisor, or Qualified Electrical Worker to meet project staffing needs.
• Troubleshoot and repair power and distribution electrical equipment, applying knowledge and experience to resolve issues, recommend changes, or modify procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
• Communicate clearly and professionally regarding project scope, safety reviews, incidents, violations, or near misses.
• Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced technicians, instructing them in proper and safe operation of equipment and tasks.
• Perform tasks related to on-site repair of high voltage electrical equipment, including gasket/O-ring replacement, gas filling and recovery, inspections, and testing. Prepare technical testing and time management reports.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED
• Electrical Engineering, technical vocational diploma, apprenticeship training, or equivalent experience; Power System Electrician or Red Seal Electrician preferred.
• Instrumentation, Millwright, Industrial Maintenance experience is an asset. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools.
• Ideally 5-10 years of OEM, industrial, commercial, or utility power system experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Class 5 Driver’s License with good defensive driving skills.
