Role:
Responsible for providing field technical service and support at BFG Enterprise Services customer sites across Canada by performing connectivity and hardware troubleshooting and repair in a positive and professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform connectivity and hardware troubleshooting and repair; perform Outlook setup and administration.
- Identify and repair hardware issues in a POS environment; replace scanners, scales, PIN pads, printers, and workstations.
- Ensure all on-site support services and repairs are completed by verifying operations, maintaining quality, and documenting work performed.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area by observing safety policies and applying safety training.
- Travel as needed to support troubleshooting at customer sites within the assigned area.
- Be available for rotational shifts (days, afternoons, evenings, weekends), including rotational standby 24/7.
- Prepare field reports as required.
- Liaise with Help Desk on escalated issues.
- Investigate and diagnose customer issues using technical expertise in a timely manner.
- Install, fish, dress, cross-connect, and terminate UTP, coaxial, and fiber optic cables.
- Identify cable pathways.
- Test, review, and troubleshoot installed systems.
- Install network infrastructure equipment such as switches, routers, servers, DSL modems, wireless access points, cameras, security systems, and manage network addressing.
- Troubleshoot cabling, hardware, and network issues in the field.
- Operate hand and power tools (e.g., drill).
- Apply proficient computer skills and solid knowledge of computer networking.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude; communicate respectfully with all parties to resolve field issues.
- Work independently and collaboratively to achieve project and site objectives.
Occupational Requirements:
Technical Requirements:
- CompTIA A+ Certification.
- Minimum university degree in information technology or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in IT field services or equivalent experience.
- Experience with POS systems in a retail environment.
- Experience with remote management software is an asset.
- Experience troubleshooting cabling, hardware, and network issues in the field.
- Familiarity with network equipment (routers, switches, desktops, printers, servers).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for company vehicle use.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Proficient computer skills and solid networking knowledge.

- Availability for rotating day/night shifts, standby, and on-call duties.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
