Job description

Our client is a global leader in automation for sheet metal processing, dedicated to developing technology that empowers sustainable manufacturing. Their integrated systems streamline material and data flow throughout the laser cutting, bending, and press brake process chain, enabling faster, more efficient production.
Role Overview
As a Field Service Technician, you’ll be the frontline expert delivering key support across installations, service calls, and customer training. You'll travel extensively to customer facilities, ensuring equipment is commissioned to specifications, delivering exceptional support, and maintaining long-term satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
Install & Commission Machinery
  • Perform full installations and commissioning of laser cutting, brake press, and automation systems to production-ready status.
  • Hand over systems confidently to customers, ensuring full operational readiness and compliance with OEM setup standards.
Service & Preventive Maintenance
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform corrective work to restore performance.
Software & Controls Updates
  • Apply CNC & PLC firmware updates or rollback as needed and verify proper functionality on standalone and integrated machines.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support
  • Resolve first-level technical issues by diagnosing root causes and implementing effective repairs.
  • Provide phone and remote support when necessary.
Setup for Demonstration & Event Use
  • Manage machine setup and operation at trade shows, exhibitions, and facility demonstrations.
  • Configure displays to showcase functionality and assist in live presentations.
Customer Training & Handover
  • Lead on-site training sessions for end-users and client teams, covering machine operation, maintenance routines, and safety procedures.
  • Build strong customer relationships to drive long-term machine performance and satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related trade.
  • 2–3years of experience in field service, technical support, or service engineering—preferably with sheet metal or manufacturing systems.
  • Hands-on experience with laser cutting, brake press, or automated machinery sectors is highly advantageous.
Key Skills for Success
  • Willing to work flexible schedules, including overtime and weekend deployments.
  • Comfortable traveling domestically (about 90%) to support installations and service activities.
  • Effective decision-maker with creative problem-solving abilities under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and workloads independently.
  • A self-starter who also thrives collaborating with cross-functional teams.
