Liebherr Canada Ltd. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician with a focus on crawler cranes and deep foundation drill rigs to safely repair and maintain equipment on-site and at customer locations, diagnose electro‑mechanical problems, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure work meets the highest quality standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, with crane experience preferred.
• Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for moderate to complex issues.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed under pressure.
• Excellent communication of detailed technical information.
• Proficiency with MS Office and service reporting software.
• Willingness to travel regularly and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect and diagnose Liebherr machinery with emphasis on Crawler Cranes & Deep Foundation Drill Rigs.
• Perform maintenance, repair, or overhaul, including component replacement and commissioning.
• Recondition and repair equipment components and systems as assigned.
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections and equipment preparation.
• Perform routine servicing and checks at customer sites as directed.
• Ensure inspections meet specifications and deadlines.
• Submit timely service reports and technical documentation.
• Operate and maintain tools and workspace per policy.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Heavy Equipment Technician will specialize in crawler cranes and deep foundation machinery, this position will be responsible for the safe and efficient repair and maintenance of heavy equipment both on-site and at customer locations. This includes diagnosing electro-mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all repairs meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs, provide technical support, and ensure equipment is operating at peak performance. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in various climates and environments.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect and diagnose Liebherr machinery and components with a heavy focus on Crawler Cranes & Deep Foundation Drill Rigs including electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, engines, gearbox/drive train, etc. to resolve moderate to complex problems
• Perform new and used machinery preparation, scheduled maintenance, repair or overhaul usually requiring component replacement, commissioning and adjustment of mechanical/hydraulic, electrical, electronic and pneumatic equipment, including warranty upgrades
• Recondition and repair equipment components and systems as assigned
• Perform pre-delivery inspections of equipment and new & used equipment preparation
• Occasionally perform servicing on Liebherr machinery as directed, including fluid checks, and sample pulling, oil and filter checks, changing lubricants, replacing filters, greasing machine lube points etc.
• Ensure components, material and/or equipment is inspected, is corrected to specifications and ensure timely delivery programs are achieved
• Ensure all final verifications specified in work instructions, scope of work, verbal communication and specifications are carried out and complete
• Accurate and timely submission of reports and technical document including service reports
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment and work areas in accordance with company policy
• Other duties as assigned

Competencies

• 3+ Experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, experience in Crane repairs strongly preferred
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and diagnostic skills of moderate to complex issues
• Strong knowledge of, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and mechanical systems
• Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings
• Ability to multi-task and remain level-headed in demanding situations
• Communication of detailed and complex information in a clear and concise manner
• MS Office, service reporting/time entry and parts ordering software
• Resourceful and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Follows instructions, guidelines and protocols
• Valid Drivers License & Passport - Ability to travel regularly
