Job summary

Liebherr-Canada Ltd. is seeking senior Field Technicians to support a major Mining project in Sparwood, BC.

You will handle field maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy Liebherr equipment on a 14-days-on/14-days-off, 12-hour shift schedule with potential overtime on days off. Applicants should hold a Canadian/Alberta Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician certification and demonstrate strong diagnostic, schematics reading and independent work abilities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on heavy equipment and warranty activities.
• Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings.
• Clear communication of detailed information and works independently for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect and diagnose Liebherr machinery in field conditions.
• Perform maintenance, repair or overhaul with component replacement as needed.
• Recondition and repair equipment components and systems as assigned.
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections and equipment preparation.
• Service and check Liebherr machinery including fluids and filters.
• Ensure inspections meet specifications and timetables.
• Submit accurate service reports and technical documentation.
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment and work areas per policy.
• Provide shop support and other duties as assigned.

Job description

Liebherr-Canada is looking for senior Field Technicians, to support a significant Mining project with Elk Valley Resources, owned by Glencore Canada, in Sparwood, British Columbia. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced technicians to bring their expertise and play a key role in the success of this initiative. On this project, you will work a 14-days-on / 14-days-off schedule, with 12-hour shifts, and with the opportunity for overtime on days off. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient and effective repair and maintenance of machinery and components on heavy equipment, in the field, ensuring a high level of service quality and customer satisfaction. Given the nature of the project and the proposed schedule, we are welcoming Field Technicians from Sparwood, Vancouver, Medicine Hat, LethBridge, Red Deer, Kamploops, Kelowna, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Abbotsford, Calgary, Edmonton, among other adjacent locations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect and diagnose Liebherr machinery and components including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, engines, gearbox/drive train, etc. to resolve moderate to complex problems
• Perform new and used machinery preparation, scheduled maintenance, repair or overhaul usually requiring component replacement, commissioning and adjustment of mechanical/hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic equipment, including warranty upgrades
• Recondition and repair equipment components and systems as assigned
• Perform pre-delivery inspections of equipment and new & used equipment preparation
• Occasionally perform servicing on Liebherr machinery as directed, including fluid checks, and sample pulling, oil and filter checks, changing lubricants, replacing filters, greasing machine lube points etc.
• Ensure components, material and/or equipment is inspected, is corrected to specifications and ensure timely delivery programs are achieved
• Ensure all final verifications specified in work instructions, scope of work, verbal communication and specifications are carried out and complete
• Accurate and timely submission of reports and technical document including service reports
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment and work areas in accordance with company policy
• Support in Shop repairs/work as requested
• Other duties as assigned

Competencies

• Canadian/Alberta Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components
• Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, component exchange, repair and warranty related activities
• Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings
• You are able to effectively communicate detailed and complex information in a clear and concise manner
• You are self-motivated with the ability to work alone, unsupervised for extended periods of time
• Fully proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite
