At STERIS, our Field Service Technicians act as the face of our company by ensuring top-notch service for our customers. In this field-based, customer-facing role, you will travel to hospitals, laboratories, surgical facilities, and other customer locations to maintain, troubleshoot, service, and provide calibration and installation support on complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for building positive relationships with customers and colleagues, as well as completing necessary administrative tasks.

HVAC repair, mechanics and maintenance, refrigeration, appliance repair, washer repair, industrial boilers and chillers, industrial equipment repair, diesel and automotive engine repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical work, steam, water, and condensate systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

What you'll do as a Field Service Representative:

  • Drive customer satisfaction through proactive communication and commitment to resolving customer issues.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on STERIS and related product lines safely and efficiently. This includes disassembling, replacing or repairing defective parts, rewiring, troubleshooting, adjusting/calibrating, and certifying equipment using standard and specialized tools and test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, modify, overhaul, or refurbish standard and special-purpose equipment and system components.
  • Ensure a positive customer experience by providing timely preventive maintenance, service calls, warranty calls, field upgrade programs, and performing installations as required.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with customers, managers, support functions, and the sales organization.
  • Promote STERIS growth by identifying sales opportunities and recommending products/services to customers.
  • Communicate promptly and efficiently with customers, providing informative status updates.
  • Be a positive ambassador for STERIS at customer sites.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in a mechanical/technical role.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license with an acceptable record, and all required vaccines.
  • Ability to travel to the USA for training.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.
  • Strong technical, organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Comfortable working independently without supervision.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work in a hospital setting, which may include visibility to emergency trauma.

Preferred:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or a related field.
