Job description

You will report to the Field Service Manager, PGHV. As the GIS Technical Advisor, you will execute service work at customer sites, adhering to Hitachi Energy and legislative Health and Safety standards, while maintaining project schedules and budgets professionally and courteously.

Responsibilities:

  1. Build customer relationships and pursue new business opportunities.
  2. Make decisions on complex and technical issues.
  3. Provide expertise in the installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment.
  4. Recommend system and equipment performance improvements to customers.
  5. Collaborate with sales, marketing, and engineering departments, bringing Field Service expertise.
  6. Handle post-commissioning warranty activities.
  7. Perform field assignments to resolve operational problems, optimize equipment performance, and commission new equipment.
  8. Work with customers on field-related issues.
  9. Review, interpret, and comment on technical specifications; recommend solutions for technical problems.
  10. Conduct field activities such as testing, inspections, and site visits.
  11. Follow scheduling and administrative procedures.
  12. Participate in technical training and presentations.
  13. Prepare technical reports following site work.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technologist certification.
  2. 7-10 years of service experience in power generation, protection, transmission, and distribution.
  3. Hitachi Energy GIS installation, commissioning, and maintenance certification is required.
  4. Experience in field services, especially HV breakers, GIS commissioning, and repair (gas filling, timing, motion, static & dynamic contact resistance, power factor, etc.).
  5. Ability to develop technical solutions, prepare quotations, and reports.
  6. Willingness to be called for emergency and scheduled service calls, including long-term assignments at customer sites.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills with customers and colleagues.
  9. Proven safety record and safety-minded approach.
  10. Self-motivated, able to work independently or in a team.
