Introduction
We are seeking a Field Service Representative to join our Field Service team. You will be responsible for the coordination / planning and execution / supervision of activities related to the repair, maintenance, and installation of mining process equipment. Your role plays a crucial part in maintenance work as well as knowledge in mining equipment. In this position, you will report to the Field Service Manager.
This position is mainly located in Sudbury, North Bay, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Prince George, British Columbia but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. however, it involves up to 80% of travel to customer sites.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of Field service experts dedicated to the repair, maintenance, and installation of Metso’s mining process equipment. Our team culture focuses on solving problems and getting things done. The members are located at different sites and coordinate with the Operations Team, the Manager of Administration / Accounting, and the Field Service Support team.
What You’ll Do
- Study, plan, and prepare for field work prior to arrival at a field assignment, based on the detailed scope of work, drawings, company procedures, and specific instructions.
- Work in liaison with the various technical support staff within Metso’s organization.
- Provide advisory services during installation, checkout, start-up, and commissioning.
- Coordinate field activity with the customer and / or the customer’s contractor(s).
- Assist the customer in executing the work to maintain the field schedule.
- Advise mill or contractor crews on safely performing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems and assist with corrective action and repairs.
- Recommend operating and maintenance procedures to ensure proper equipment function.
- Train customer staff in proper methods to maintain and repair the equipment.
- Write field reports for submission to the customer and internal departments outlining problems encountered, actions taken, and future recommendations.
- When appropriate, make recommendations to improve field methods and / or efficiency.
- Submit expense statements according to Metso's travel policies and procedures.
- Carry out other service-related tasks as a member of Metso's Service Group as may be requested by the Field Service Manager.
- Travel (domestic and international) may be required as needed.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties and / or other special projects as required.
Who You Are
- Millwright certification or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in field service.
- Valid Canadian passport.
- Valid driver license.
- Ability to lead, plan, and organize field service assignments.
- Motivated, customer oriented.
- Good communication skills, fluent in English (oral and written).
- Fluency in French (oral and written) preferred.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings in English and the metric system.
- Product knowledge of Metso's equipment.
- Adequate computer skills, able to work with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Willingness to travel to job sites including extended periods, up to 70% of the time as required.
- Capable of performing duties under pressure, with potential for 16-hour workdays.
- Willingness to respond to field service emergency calls 24 / 7.
