Job summary

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Heavy Duty Mechanic (Surface Drills) in Canada. The role covers troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of surface mining equipment, commissioning new machines, and on-site training at customer sites.

Ideal candidates hold Red Seal certification, 3+ years of mining equipment experience, strong electrical/hydraulic know-how, and willingness to travel across Canada. Proficient MS Office, valid driver's license, and good communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade certification relevant to heavy equipment; Red Seal asset.
• Minimum 3 years of mining equipment experience is preferred.
• Experience with mining equipment is an asset.
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain surface mining equipment.
• Commission new equipment and train at customer sites.
• Inspect equipment, identify faults and replace defective parts.
• Test equipment to ensure proper operation; create reports.

Field Service Heavy Duty Mechanic (Surface Drills)

Location: British Columbia

Schedule: 14-14 (subject to change)

Currently, we have an opening for a Field Service Technician (Surface). At Sandvik, the Field Service Technician (Surface) is responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical aspects of surface mining equipment and components according to defined specifications. The Field Service Technician (Surface) is also responsible for new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites.

What you will be doing

• Inspecting equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
• Adjusting equipment & repairing/replacing defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
• Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Commissioning new equipment.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Completing accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Staying current with the industry, customers, product developments and technical best practices.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

• Identify and report unsafe work practices, workplace incidents, and near misses. Complete a risk assessment (Take 5) before each task.
• Maintain hand tools and equipment to support safe operation.
• Maintain an orderly work area and meet housekeeping requirements.
• Attend required environmental, health, and safety training.
• Wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required for each task.

What you will bring along

• Relevant trade certification (red seal is considered an asset).
• At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
• Previous experience with equipment would be an asset.
• Common Core training is considered an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required.
• Ability and willingness to work varied shifts (as required)
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
