Americas Service Sales Manager

Your role and responsibilities

Reporting to the Service Manager for the province of British Columbia, the Field Service Engineering Representative will be responsible for executing maintenance activities, troubleshooting, resolving customer operational problems, and optimizing harbor crane automation systems on various cranes, including Ship-to-Shore Cranes and Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG). Develop crane control software applications for PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) panels.

  1. Adhere to ABB Health & Safety policies for all assigned jobs.
  2. Lead or participate in new and retrofit projects and commissioning service jobs.
  3. Travel to customer sites, as needed, to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, with support from ABB experts.
  4. Prepare job plans and activities in collaboration with the Service Project Manager.
  5. Prepare and present service reports with recommendations based on services provided.
  6. Implement services to optimize crane operation and availability.
  7. Program variable frequency converters for crane motions, upgrade obsolete electrical and automation systems, and set up computer systems for crane maintenance and remote monitoring.
  8. Coordinate with ABB experts to analyze equipment performance, improve operations, and review operational parameters.
  9. Provide professional customer service at all times.
  10. Assist customers with products outside their area of expertise.
  11. Identify opportunities for ABB to add value to customers.
Qualifications for the role
  • Electrical Engineering degree or Technologist Diploma.
  • At least five years’ experience in electrical and automation systems installation, service, or commissioning.
  • Experience with crane electrical systems or developing heavy machinery application software, including PLC, HMI, and VFDs.
  • Experience with switchgear and computer networks for heavy machinery.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%, including weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in French and English (oral and written).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and maintenance focus.
