Job Description

Position Overview: At TOMRA, we believe diversity drives innovation. The Field Service Engineers play an integral role in the success of the resource revolution here at TOMRA. They are responsible for delivering high quality service to ensure enhanced machine performance and an excellent customer experience. We are looking for a field service engineer local to our Charlotte, NC office to support Customers within North America.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Field Service Operations (60%) – Perform commissioning, testing, integration, optimization, maintenance, and repair across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Technical Support & Consultation (20%) – Provide expert consultation on customer plant systems, remote and on-site support for technical issues, and sorter performance troubleshooting.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing (10%) – Conduct machine and maintenance training for customers and service personnel, while supporting the development of team members.
  • Reporting & Documentation (5%) – Deliver detailed field reports after each customer visit or technical intervention.
  • Continuous Improvement & On-Call Support (5%) – Provide on-call technical phone support, field response, and contribute ideas for process and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of customer-facing B2B experience in electrical and mechanical fields.
  • Strong technical foundation, particularly in electricity (reading electrical diagrams and plans, API/PLC electrical automation).
  • Proficiency in computer programs and PC configuration.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and user-friendly manner.
  • Fluency in French and English is required.
  • Adaptability and willingness to travel internationally.

Education:

  • University or college studies in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred; minimum Technician qualifications required.

Location & Travel Requirements:

  • Preferably based in Montreal, Canada.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% per year (local, domestic, and international).
  • Overnight travel Monday–Friday based on assignments.
  • Valid passport required.
  • Ability to drive long distances with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces.
