Field Service Controls Engineering Team Leader

Job Description

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the administration and delegation of work for team members within our Field Service Representatives according to their skill and experience.
2. Collaborate with the Service Applications Engineering team in support of proposals and own the jobs won from concept to through-life support.
3. Plan to achieve budgets or to be under budget in total labor hours with the help of the Technical Service Manager.
4. Effectively manage overtime to departmental budget requirements with the help of the Technical Service Manager.
5. Assist in managing your group to work safely and achieve no lost time accidents.
6. Create a team environment and work with your group to be a positive, motivating force.
7. Travel is typically 15%, but there could be periods of higher travel requests during service rotations per year.
8. Participate in reviewing objectives/continuous improvement initiatives with your team.
9. Participate in the planning stage of the project with the Assembly Manager, Project Manager, and project team.
10. Support the Manager in the selection of FSR Controls to be an ambassador for ATS at the customers’ site.
11. Ensure the health and safety of employees in their group by ensuring that machinery and equipment are safe.
12. Conduct 1:1 meetings with team members on a regular basis to continuously develop and coach them.
13. Complete performance appraisals, keeping in mind that performance is key.
14. Provide input on planned capital expenditures for manufacturing equipment during the fiscal budgeting process.
15. Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment compliance.
16. Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
17. Provide information, instruction, and supervision to employees.
18. Step in to fill FSR Control duties when required (except travel %).

Qualifications

Education:

1. A post-secondary diploma, degree, or equivalent qualification, specializing in electrical, mechanical, or software controls technology.

Experience:

1. A minimum of four years of experience in a hands-on automation/control environment.
2. 10+ years of experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human/Machine Interfaces (HMI) using Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
3. Excellent understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics with basic electrical and system control.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
5. Ability to quickly gain knowledge to readily troubleshoot systems.
