Job summary

Bird Construction in Western Canada is seeking Field Quality Inspectors to support industrial projects across the region. You will join the Quality Control team, performing welding inspections, document reviews, and turnover documentation.

The role requires CWB Level II certification, knowledge of NDE, ASME B31.3 and CSA codes, and the ability to read P&ID and isometric drawings. You will work on site, with a focus on accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • CWB II Inspector certification required.
  • Experience with NDE processes and inspection methods.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 and CSA codes.
  • Ability to read P&ID and isometric drawings.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Bluebeam and MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Industrial mechanical construction QC experience preferred.
  • Earthworks, formwork, and civil scope knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field welding inspections and visual weld quality checks.
  • Verify dimensional data and weld mapping as per specs.
  • Create and maintain inspection records, ITPs, and test packages.
  • Witness pressure tests and document turnover packages.
  • Ensure material traceability, including heat numbers.
  • Collaborate with project team and coordinate turnover docs.

Job description

Field Quality Inspector CWB Level - Industrial West Bird is currently seeking Field Quality Inspectors to support various upcoming jobs throughout Western Canada. As a member of the Quality Control Team, you will be participating in the implementation and execution of various work scopes and disciplines. These work scopes would include welding of pipe and structural steel., and they may also include civil or concrete work as required. This position will be field based and on an industrial work site, across Western Canada.

What You Will Be Working On

Ensuring Code and client specification requirements are implemented and completed on site. Read and Interpret engineer’s drawings such as P&ID's, and isometric drawings Documentation review of 3rd party records including NDE, MTR’s etc. Create and maintain inspection records and reports including logs, test packages, and turnover documentation Responsible for visual Inspections of welds, dimensional verification, weld mapping and Red Line Drawings. Creation of Pressure Test Packages and witnessing the testing Responsible for Material Traceability including recording and verifying welds and heat numbers. Create and ensure compliance to ITPs Coordinate and assist in assembling turnover documentation.

What We Are Looking For

CWB Level II Certified Welding Inspector Competent knowledge of NDE processes as well as ASME B31.3and CSA Codes Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them Proficient with computer programs, including Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Effective written and verbal communication skills Related experience in Industrial Mechanical Construction and Quality Control General experience and knowledge in earthworks, geotechnical, formwork and concrete, super-structural steel, architectural, and/or infrastructure would be considered an asset. Maintain positive relationships with the other members of the project team. Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
