Field Production Engineer, Christina Lake / Conklin, Alberta

MEG Energy has an exciting opportunity for an early career engineer to dive into the world of SAGD oil development in a Field Production Engineer role based at our Christina Lake operating site. This role contributes to MEG Energy success by providing production engineering support to the site engineering and operations teams. Working closely with the Field Operations team to generate solutions in a fast-paced environment, this role provides opportunity for technical development in several engineering disciplines.

Your Day to Day will include:

  • Actively participating as a Field based member of the Calgary Production Engineering team providing support with day to day production management and optimization.
  • Effectively communicate guidance and priorities into Operations, Maintenance, Construction and Drilling & Completions field teams.
  • Assist Exploitation Engineering and Production Engineering groups in execution of MEG’s proprietary asset development technologies.
  • Oversee SAGD Well/Pad start up, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide plant operation and field activity updates to Calgary office as required.
  • Manage both planned and unplanned facility upsets, including forecasting and mitigating impacts.
  • Downtime and reliability management, optimization and improvement as it pertains to Subsurface and Production Engineering group.
  • Daily and Weekly Reporting, including production accounting and volume reporting.
  • Demonstrating a safety mindset focused on achieving an incident-free worksite by caring for ourselves and all others above all else.

What you will bring to MEG:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited university or P. Tech designation with equivalent experience
  • Eligible to be registered member of APEGA
  • 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders
  • A drive and passion to make a difference and create an impact with the work that you do
  • Field Based experience with Electric Submersible Pump, Rod Pump and SAGD Well Operation is considered an asset.
  • Experience with data analytics and digital solutions to optimize field surveillance and well monitoring to enhance asset performance.
  • Class 5 Drivers License required.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • This is a Fly-In, Fly-Out camp-based position, working on a 7&7 rotation (Tuesday – Tuesday) flying out of Calgary or Edmonton.
