Our client, a major oil and gas producer, is seeking a recent graduate from a technical diploma or degree program to hire as a Field Operator based out of their Whitecourt office, with the intent to develop the successful candidate into future operational, technical, or maintenance roles. This role will follow an 8/6 schedule, working 10-hour days, and candidates must be local to the area as no accommodations are provided.

Reporting to the Production Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for working with the field team to monitor and optimize well production, pipeline systems, and facilities, as well as troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Adhere to safety protocols, including hazard identification, equipment lock-out, emergency response, and comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs and servicing.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to increase production through optimization of wells, gathering systems, and facilities.
  • Manage start-up or shut-down of wells, facilities, and equipment in coordination with our IOC (Integrated Operations Center).
  • Communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, construction, engineering, and management teams.
  • Conduct daily accurate production accounting and ensure timely completion and archiving of reports.
  • Manage work activities on your sites to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Qualifications:

  • A recent graduate with an Engineering Degree or Technology Diploma.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Willing to work on-call after-hours, as coverage for facilities or wells may occasionally be required.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position; candidates must be willing to undergo pre-employment screening, including drug and alcohol testing, driver’s abstract check, and criminal background check if applicable.
