Job summary

Weatherford is seeking a Wireline Field Operator to join our operations team. You will plan and perform tasks, rig up/down equipment, and contribute to safe, efficient field operations in oil and gas environments.

Role involves on-site work, 50–75% travel seasonally, and leadership duties mentoring junior operators. A Class 3/1 (or Class 5 with experience) license is required, along with mechanical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
  • Able to meet physical demands and travel 50–75% seasonally.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Oil & Gas operations.
  • Valid license: Class 3/1 (or Class 5 with experience); abstracts reviewed for approval.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operations: perform tests, inspections, rig up/down, and operate machinery per manuals.
  • Maintenance & Repair: disassembly, cleaning, inspections, assembly, and storage of tools.
  • Safety & Compliance: participate in safety meetings, JHA, and maintain safe work areas.
  • Quality Assurance: ensure work meets quality standards within time constraints.
  • Transportation: drive pickup/wireline units and truck flats to well sites; maintain driving record.
  • Documentation: complete operational records and report issues using proper tools.
  • Leadership: mentor other field operators, plan jobs, troubleshoot issues, and oversee schedules.

Our Wireline Operators are responsible for performing tasks such as planning and preparation, load-out and backload, rigging, clean-up and basic maintenance of tools, equipment, and Wireline units. This hands-on role involves operating specialized equipment, machinery, and systems in the oil and gas industry. Working under the direct supervision of the Field Supervisor, Operators will assist in safely carrying out rig-in/rig-out procedures, accurate data collection, reporting and performing general duties as assigned.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operations: Perform functional tests, inspections, and monitoring of equipment following specific work instructions; rig up/down equipment; clean, lubricate, repair, and operate machinery according to technical manuals
  • Maintenance & Repair: Conduct disassembly, cleaning, pressure testing, visual inspections, assembly, and storage of tools; service mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic components; inspect parts using measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers
  • Safety & Compliance: Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA); maintain equipment and work areas in safe condition; comply with all HSE policies and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Quality Assurance: Execute work assignments to the highest quality standards within time constraints; perform quality control analysis to ensure products meet required specifications
  • Transportation: Drive pickup &/or wireline units, and truck-flat bed units to well sites while maintaining a satisfactory driving record
  • Documentation: Complete all necessary operational documentation and report issues promptly using appropriate tools
  • Leadership: Lead and mentor other field operators; plan and coordinate jobs from start to finish; troubleshoot equipment issues; perform competency assessments; manage workshop schedules and quality inspections
Skills And Education
  • Mechanically inclined, with the ability to perform equipment maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and monitoring

  • Standard shift (Manual Transmission) Class 3 or Class 1 operators license with clean abstract; Class 5 license with industry experience will be considered; abstracts will be reviewed within Weatherford's Driving Qualification Standard for approval prior to hire
  • Reliable transportation
  • This position is shifting work with 24 hours on call and scheduled days off; 15 & 6 Rotational work schedule. Travel required: 50% to 75% as a function of seasonality of the oilfield industry
