Description:

Northern Lights College's Continuing Education Department is seeking to hire an Instructor for the Field Operations Specialist Hydrocarbon Resources (FOSHR) program.

The FOSHR provides new and potential students training in oil and gas field operations through twelve training modules. The focus of the program is to provide students with the practical skills needed to function effectively as Field Operators in the oil & gas industry, providing both technical and practical knowledge. Field operators generally start up and stop equipment, take pressure and flow readings, compute and record data, adjust valves/pressures, and examine and repair equipment. Like a plant operator, they may also deal with compressors or dehydrators within their field run and manage oil batteries. Oil and Gas Field Operators are considered essential personnel to keep the industry running, and graduates who enter the industry will have recognized skills beneficial for employment.

***There will be two cohorts of students, with the first taking place in the Fall of 2025 (September 2 - December 19, 2025) and the second being in the Winter/Spring term (February 2 - May 29, 2026). The period between the two cohorts would be an unpaid break.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have extensive practical knowledge and experience in all aspects of both oil and natural gas processing; and will possess a valid Gas Plant Level 5 (or have equivalent certification and experience in the field). You will have a minimum of 5 years of related experience, and must be self-motivated, possess excellent organizational and communication skills and be effective working in a team environment.

You will be asked to provide proof of teaching qualification or completion of the Professional Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP), or equivalent. Those applying for this position must be familiar with industry/government safety codes and current environmental practices. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following: Exploration, Drilling and Completions, Hydrocarbon Chemistry, Pipelines, Land Survey Systems, Oilfield and Gas Plant Operations, Oil and Gas Field Production Equipment, Pumps, compressors, Generators and Driver Components, Facility Piping Control and valves, Basic Instrumentation and P & ID's, Production Accounting, Hydrocarbon Safety, and will be able to lead work in an Oil and Gas Lab. Applicants must have a Class 5 driver's license in order to be considered.

The successful candidate will be proficient in MS Office Suite, and familiar with online delivery platforms.

Attention: only applications submitted through the Northern Lights College's employment website (see link above) will be considered.

Internal applicants are encouraged to confirm the impact upon their employee status and benefits eligibility before accepting a new position with the College. Please contact Payroll/Benefits staff at the NLC Regional Office, Dawson Creek, for information and assistance.
