Job summary

Simplot Canada (II) Limited is seeking a motivated student to support Field Operations in Portage la Prairie. The role focuses on crop sampling, data entry, and coordinating with growers to support raw procurement and scheduling activities.

You will work closely with the Raw Procurement Manager and Field Representatives, maintain records, and assist with miscellaneous projects. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a solid academic record is preferred; valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
• Strong academic record (suggested minimum GPA 3.0).
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and performs crop sampling for field quality and crop progress.
• Works with growers as directed by Raw Procurement Manager.
• Inputs crop progress and field observations into spreadsheets.
• Records yield information by grower and commodity; tracks weather data.
• Assists with harvest scheduling and locating fields.
• Supports manufacturing operations related to raw product.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary

This role will work for and support Group Field Operations Raw Procurement Manager, Field Representative, and Raw Planner/Scheduler in the area of supporting the procurement of potatoes and associated activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinates and performs crop sampling for field quality and crop progress.


• Works with growers as directed by Raw Procurement Manager.


• Computer input of crop progress application tracking or field observations and completes other spreadsheets as necessary.


• Records yield information by grower, commodity and variety. Tracks and records weather data.


• Works with Harvest crew to schedule harvest timeline and locate fields.


• Assists with projects/special assignments as directed.


• Supports manufacturing operations as it relates to raw product.


• Other duties as assigned.

Typical Education

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from 4-year college or university
