Job summary

Grainger is seeking a Route Service Specialist to support customers across multiple locations. You will service designated routes, stock products, scan orders, and ensure accurate inventory labeling and levels.

The role emphasizes problem solving, safety compliance, KPI achievement, and collaboration with sales teams to improve customer experience while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years in customer service/selling (retail/telephone/warehouse).

Job description

• Service multiple customer locations on a designated route


• Receive and stock purchased products at designated customer locations


• Scan orders as inventory is depleted to maintain proper stocking levels


• Ensure inventory locations are properly labeled and quantities are accurate


• Resolve customer problems promptly and accurately according to Grainger policy and procedure


• Comply with Grainger and facility safety and inspection requirements


• Meet defined KPIs


• Perform machine break/fix activities at customer sites


• Plan and execute customer inventory projects


• Collect accurate inventory information to support KeepStock implementation


• Assist with staging, labeling, and organizing products at customer sites


• Complete product relocation and discontinuation processes


• Travel as required


• Perform assigned branch responsibilities


• Generate new orders by identifying additional product needs and spot-buy opportunities


• Execute the onsite service component of account strategies


• Work with sales partners to improve customer experience and increase business

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED


• 3+ years experience in customer service/selling (i.e., Retail / telephone / warehouse) environment


• Self-motivated, with high energy and dedication to customer service and sales growth


• Must be comfortable on daily use of technology


• Ability to effectively collaborate with tact and diplomacy with internal and external customers and cross-functional partners


• Demonstrated ability to apply strong judgment, independent problem-solving skills, and understanding of Grainger’s Core Value Proposition


• Ability to handle various technical and operational issues


• Ability to operate in a rapidly changing environment


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Background checks and drug screening may be required


• May be required to use a personal vehicle for transportation with valid insurance meeting Grainger’s standards


• May be required to attend customer sites and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including potentially a hard hat and steel-toed safety boots


• May be required to meet clean-shaven or trimmed facial-hair requirements for N95 or other close-fitted PPE


• May be required to submit to customer alcohol and drug screening procedures for onsite access
