Position Responsibilities

Repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain drilling equipment and mobile support equipment used within the scope of Boart Longyear Drilling operations.

Main duties

  • Check for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets regulatory specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • Perform repair work on all Boart Longyear Drilling equipment
  • May service specialty attachments or components and maintain, adjust and repair such items
  • Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments
  • Requisition parts, materials and supplies
  • Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity
  • Experience with Stopemasters, Epiroc Simbas, Cubex Orions, Minecats and Kubotas would be an asset

Employment Requirements

  • Millwright or Heavy-Duty Mechanic Trade Certification (Red Seal)
  • Completion of secondary school is usually required
  • Completion of three- to five-year apprenticeship program
  • This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver's license. The successful candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid driver’s license upon being hired, by submitting a driver’s abstract to Human Resources
  • Standard First Aid
  • Underground common core would be an asset
  • Basic Safety Orientation, an asset
  • This position will be based out of Red Lake, Ontario
  • Schedule to be negotiated

Education And Experience

Typically requires a High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3+ years of directly related experience.
