Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment in a safe, professional manner. Travel to customer sites and assist in training other technicians, with a focus on delivering exceptional service.

You will maintain documentation, handle parts logistics, and contribute to a high-performance Service Department. Benefits and a strong safety culture are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• 3–5 years of equipment repair/maintenance experience.
• Own tools required.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of engines.
• Excellent customer service and teamwork.
• Able to lift up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex rental equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, diesel).
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain work orders and documentation daily.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
