Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies in the North Bay and Sudbury region is seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Technician to repair and maintain construction and forestry equipment and attachments. You will report to our Sudbury Construction and Forestry branch and work with a skilled service team.

Responsibilities include diagnosing, repairing, ordering parts, using John Deere Service Advisor, and ensuring safety and quality on every job.

Qualifications

  • Must communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Certified Journeyperson in Heavy Duty Equipment trade or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in heavy equipment repair/diagnosis preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, and repair heavy duty equipment and attachments.
  • Order parts and document work orders accurately.
  • Road test equipment and check operation as required.
  • Use John Deere Service Advisor and related systems for maintenance records.

Brandt is currently seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Technician for the North Bay and Sudbury area, reporting to our Sudbury Construction and Forestry branch.

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry based equipment and attachments.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
  • Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
  • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
  • Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
  • Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required
What We Look For
  • Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel
  • Must be able to meet physical demands (climbing, overhead lifting/postures, prolonged standing, sensory processing, fine motor control)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred
  • Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade preferred
  • Must be committed to customer service and service excellence
