Brandt in Ponoka, AB, is seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Technician for our Agriculture Division (John Deere). You will diagnose, repair, and maintain tractors and related implements, traveling to customer sites as needed and performing on-site work.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team
• Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds
• We welcome apprentices currently registered in this trade
• Heavy Equipment Technician or Agriculture Equipment Technician certification is an asset
• Class 5 Driver's License required or on apprenticeship path

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain all systems on agricultural equipment including tractors and hay tools
• Provide field mechanical support and travel to customer sites
• On-site repairs when needed at customer locations
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and tests
• Recondition pre-owned equipment
• Document repair orders and warranty invoicing accurately
• Maintain communication with internal support to diagnose problems quickly
• Build relationships with customers across Alberta and develop business

Our Ponoka branch is looking for an exceptional individual to join our service department as a Field Heavy Equipment Technician for our Agriculture Division (John Deere).

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Diagnose, Repair & Maintain all systems on agricultural equipment such as Tractors, Hay tools, and other Ag & Turf implements. This includes, engine, transmission, electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, guidance & precision ag systems among others
• Provide mechanical support from the field and travel to customers requiring diagnosis and repair
• Repair, Service and/or diagnose agriculture equipment at the customers site IF needed
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections; including fluid and various filter changes, testing of equipment, & adjustments for infield optimization
• Reconditioning of pre-owned equipment
• Accurately record field reports for service writer for all work done including warranty invoicing and records
• Maintain communication with internal support to quickly diagnose problems and provide solutions
• Develop relationships with customers in different communities in Alberta and build business in those communities

What We Look For

• Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel
• Must be able to meet physical demands (climbing, overhead lifting/postures, prolonged standing, sensory processing, fine motor control)
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Heavy Equipment Technician or Agriculture Equipment Technician certification an asset
• We will also consider apprentices that are registered under this trade too!
• Previous field tech or road tech experience would be a plus
• Basic to above average computers skills and a passion for problem solving
• Experience in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining equipment.
• Ability to complete detailed repair order notes on each job
• The desire to continue learning updated equipment technology as the industry continues to evolve
• Class 5 Drivers License
