Qualifications

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Field Service Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of equipment in a safe, effective, accurate, and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities :
  1. Efficiently evaluate the working condition of equipment, diagnose issues, disassemble/assemble, order parts, and perform repairs.
  2. Utilize OEM diagnosis software and interface tools to repair Doosan Heavy Equipment, Tree Equipment, Bobcat excavators/loaders, Ecoverse Universal, and other OEMs as assigned.
  3. Work closely with OEM Technical support.
  4. Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
  5. Perform routine scheduled maintenance and safety inspections.
  6. Assess service task hazards and ensure safety standards are met.
  7. Road test equipment and check attachment operation as needed.
  8. Recommend repair methods and improvements.
  9. Build and maintain customer relationships at worksites and through Service Advisors.
  10. Complete detailed service reports, timecards, warranty documentation, and other paperwork.
  11. Ensure high customer satisfaction through quality repairs.
  12. Stay updated with technological changes and employ safe workplace practices.
  13. Protect company assets from damage or theft and maintain service truck cleanliness and organization.
  14. Work independently in challenging environments.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
  1. Experience in mechanical equipment repair and maintenance.
  2. Excellent diagnostic skills.

Training, Education, and Experience :
  1. Red Seal Certified Heavy Duty Technician.
  2. Experience with electrical systems and electronic controls.
  3. Experience in diesel engine service, repair, and overhaul.
  4. Knowledge of hydraulic systems, hydrostatic drives, transmissions, and driveline components.
  5. Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  6. Welding skills are an asset.

Working Conditions :

The technician is based out of the Nanaimo branch, working approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with local travel and some US travel expected.
