Reporting to the Dean of Education, the Field Experience Coordinator will be responsible for placing students in 4-week and 9-week practicums, providing counseling to students prior to, during, and after practicums.

The Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Alberta’s School Jurisdictions, the Alberta Teachers’ Association, and other educational partners. Responsibilities include data collection, reporting, and presentation of key Faculty of Education information.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with school-based personnel in Alberta School Jurisdictions.
  • Match cooperating teachers with student teachers to ensure successful practicums.
  • Assign all Year 1 and Year 2 (BEd AfterDegree) student teachers to cooperating teachers.
  • Recruit and maintain a roster of university facilitators.
  • Maintain and update all Field Experiences documentation as needed.
  • Maintain and update historical data related to placements and satisfaction of educational partners.
  • Maintain financial records related to placement functions.
  • Prepare and lead Field Experiences seminars with Year 1 students.
  • Ensure compliance with Concordia University of Edmonton’s policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with Alberta Teachers’ Association and other educational partners.
  • Provide support to the Dean of Education in faculty administration.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in the K-12 Alberta school environment preferred.
  • Understanding of teacher certification requirements in Alberta.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Effective communication skills at various levels.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and adherence to deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check results.
