Job description

Formwork contractor seeking experienced and business-minded Field Engineer / Layout Engineer for a large RC-frame mixed-use project in Vancouver. Salary $80,000 - $100,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role. The Field Engineer is an integral member of the project team, responsible for assisting in delivering construction projects of varying size and complexity, focusing on structural works including formwork, concrete foundations and suspended slabs, rebar, and architectural structures.

Duties & Responsibilities of Field Engineer:

• Capable of bringing their own experience and ideas.
• Track daily concrete poured and calculate the contact m2.
• Set out and prepare project locates as required.
• Create and maintain RFI’s.
• Create and maintain PO numbers.
• Trace deliveries and returns.
• Ensure team meetings are conducted weekly/daily.
• Create, maintain, and deliver all project documents and files.
• Effectively communicate relevant project information to the project team.
• Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Communicate ideas for improving company processes positively and constructively.

Qualifications of Field Engineer:

• Engineering or Project/Construction degree, relevant experience.
• 4+ years of experience supporting the delivery of projects.
• Concrete forming/placement experience required.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite of products.
• Familiarity with construction methods and building codes.
• Effective communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
• Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.

Management Expectations:

• Willingness to participate in additional specialty training for tools, equipment, instruments, and safety.
• Keen to take on responsibility and complete tasks in a timely and professional manner.
