Overview

Primoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.

Summary

The Field Engineer is an integral part of the project team responsible for providing technical support to the project manager and site superintendent with Subcontractor coordination, material coordinating, estimating, engineering, and/or project control activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to project teams, including review of client-supplied documentation, calculations, recommendations and interpretation of applicable codes.
  • Liaise with client’s construction management team through Requests for Information (RFI) and Change Management documentation.
  • Support and uphold Primoris Canada’s Safety Values.
  • Assist with the preparation of execution plans, schedules and budget estimates.
  • Assist with the preparation of Materials and Subcontractor Requisitions, including specifying the materials or scope of work to be procured as well as research approved alternative materials and products.
  • Provide assistance to site superintendent with constructability reviews of future projects.
  • Bid coordination and planning including preparation of scope of work documentation for sub-contractors, evaluation of sub-contractor quotations, and supporting project manager with award of sub-contracts.
  • Support and oversee document control with receipt, tracking, and issuance of applicable project documents and revisions.
  • Document any changes in scope from original contract along with detailed estimate and schedule impact.
  • Identify and setup pay items and develop WBS with Project Management Team to align with internal and external reporting requirements and project estimate.
  • Work with project controls to measure and validate field progress on scope and additional work as well as updating project schedule.
  • Understand project scope of work and general overview of project contract.
  • Support with completion of material take-offs from project drawings.
  • Assist Quality Control with site inspections, document turnover, and completion of as-built drawings.
  • Various other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a Certified Engineering Technologist.
  • 5-10 years of experience on industrial construction projects
  • Sound understanding of Project Controls and Scheduling
  • Experience managing a small group would be considered an asset
