Job Description

As a Field Drill Pipe Inspection Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and quality of used drill pipe through thorough inspections. You will oversee all operations of the Used Drill Pipe Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) Unit, ensuring that each inspection meets industry standards and customer specifications. You will supervise a team of inspection crewmembers, ensuring safety and efficiency on the job.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  1. Operate and maintain the Used Drill Pipe Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) Unit, including daily operations, maintenance, size change-over, and standardization, ensuring timely completion, quality, safety, and adherence to Tuboscope SOPs.
  2. Coordinate with supervisors to verify daily work schedules and organize inspection crews, assigning duties accordingly.
  3. Monitor inspection crew performance to ensure compliance with SOPs, API, DS-1, ASTM standards, and customer requirements.
  4. Oversee the EMI unit's recording console to classify inspected materials.
  5. Supervise inspection prove-up personnel, record results, and manage rejected or reclassified materials.
  6. Complete and submit inspection and tally reports promptly upon job completion.
  7. Perform EMI unit maintenance and repairs, coordinating with management for parts and supplies.
  8. Assist with other inspection duties as needed, such as operator or prove-up roles.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Division Manager.
Qualification Requirements
  1. High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. At least two years of used drill pipe inspection experience.
  3. Knowledge of oilfield tubulars and pipe handling.
  4. Understanding of relevant API publications and customer specifications.
  5. Field experience is advantageous.
  6. Experience inspecting used tubing and casing preferred.
  7. Willingness to travel.
  8. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, including disclosure of a three-year driving history.
HSE Requirements
  1. Work environment includes shop and yard, with potential exposure to dust, fumes, gases, and temperature variations.
  2. Physical activities include squatting, bending, reaching, twisting, lifting up to 23 kg, walking on uneven ground, and working near moving equipment.
  3. Always wear proper protective clothing and equipment, and perform duties safely.
