Job Opportunity: Field Density Technician

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Field Density Technician to work at our Ace- Saginaw (Bolen) Lachine and West branch locations. The technician tests materials and assists in maintaining or modifying aggregate gradations to meet customer demands, using moderately complex testing methods and equipment.

This entry-level position is ideal for individuals new to the workforce or switching careers, especially those who enjoy hands-on work and being outdoors. No prior experience is required as on-the-job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust asphalt compactors and rolling patterns
• Monitor density during paving operations using Pavement Quality Indicators
• Administer core sample processes and collect samples
• Test in-place density on asphalt pavement and take hot mix samples from behind a paver
• Perform manual tasks as assigned by supervisor and other construction-related duties

Training & Certifications

Opportunity to attend Ferris Construction Institute for certifications in:

• Density Certification
• Aggregate Certification
• Loose HMA Sample Certification

Shift & Compensation

Shift: Day shift with weekend availability

Pay: $20 per hour

Qualifications & Skills

• Basic computer and math skills
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Ability to tolerate noise and temperature variations
• Lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders, scaffolding, and stockpiles
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle
