Job summary

McElhanney is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Technologist to join our Kitimat, BC team. This role is primarily field-based, supporting construction inspection, materials testing, surveying, and site layout while gaining hands-on experience on infrastructure and resource-sector projects.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering Technology diploma with 1–5 years of related experience and is registered or eligible for ASTTBC.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• 1–5 years of relevant civil construction, materials testing, surveying, or related field.
• Registration or eligibility for ASTTBC or equivalent professional association.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and team-oriented work ethic.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fieldwork incl. materials testing and data collection.
• Perform soil, concrete, and asphalt testing per standards.
• Support site layout, surveying, quality assurance, and quality control.
• Assist with construction monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
• Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and project managers.
• Utilize Civil 3D and other software for data entry and drafting.
