Job description

Field Biologist (12-month fixed-term contract)
  • Developing technical strategies by understanding customer and market needs, supporting global and regional research targets, and providing management support on budgeting, capital planning, crop rotation, farm relations, staffing and data quality.
  • Managing local research farms to meet Canadian technical and market targets, collecting high quality data to build confidence in projects with internal stakeholders and regulators. This role will include the efficient evaluation of new solutions.
  • Managing technical projects by planning protocols, summarising data and preparing presentations for various audiences, while supporting data management for research collaborators and regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborating with technical managers and marketing, which will be key to ensuring products are developed to meet market needs.
  • Recruiting, training and developing talent within your research program, fostering a learning culture that prioritises high quality field research outcomes and promotes a strong safety culture at the farm.
If you have...
  • M.Sc. in Agriculture/Biology with or equivalent experience in crop science, weed science, agronomy, entomology, plant pathology or related discipline.
  • Minimum 1-3 years related field experience, managing field research trials.
  • Ideal 3-5 years related field experience, managing field research / product development projects across indications. Experience with the Canadian regulatory environment is beneficial.
  • Experience in working with growers, distribution/retail, universities, or consultants would be beneficial.
  • Ability to share knowledge and expertise with others. Actively participate on teams to solve problems or achieve team goals. Strong organizational, time management and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with audiences of varying backgrounds. Must be skilled at development and delivery of presentations to both external and internal customers. Excellent computer skills and proficient in various software programs, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, ARM/SPEAD.
  • Experience with farm equipment and or mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
