Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Field Truck and Coach Technician to join our Peterbilt dealership. This full-time role focuses on repair and maintenance of truck and coach equipment in a field environment.

You will diagnose, repair, and assemble components, order parts, and document all work on orders. The ideal candidate is a certified journeyperson with strong electrical diagnostic skills and a customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson in Truck & Coach tech or equivalent designation is preferred.
• Experience with electrical diagnosis and aftertreatment systems is a plus.
• Strong focus on customer service and service excellence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, service team and branch personnel.
• Proven diagnostic skills for mechanical and technical repair needs.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate working condition, diagnose, disassemble/assemble, order parts and repair on-road equipment.
• Use related instruments, tools, and computer systems safely and effectively.
• Document machine information, actions taken and time on work orders.
• Assess task hazards and perform work safely to standards.
• Use parts catalogs and order parts from parts personnel.
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.
• Collaborate with equipment engineers to fulfill warranty requirements.

We are currently seeking a Field Truck and Coach Technician join our Peterbilt Dealership in Ottawa, ON. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Truck and Coach based equipment and attachments in a field environment.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair on road equipment
• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
• Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
• Work with equipment engineers to diagnose and fulfill warranty requirements
• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required
• Other duties as assigned

What We Look For

• Certified Journeyperson in the Truck and Coach technician trade or equivalent designated trade considered an asset
• Experience in CAT, CUMMINs and PACCAR engines considered an asset
• Experience with electrical diagnosis /troubleshooting and aftertreatment systems considered an asset
• Previous mechanical experience in a shop environment is considered an asset.
• Must be committed to customer service and service excellence
• Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with equipment engineers, the service team, and branch personnel.
• Outstanding knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems
• Proven computer/ technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work
• Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs
• Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure
• Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
