We are seeking a Fibre Optic Splicer Technician for a permanent, full-time role in Canada and the United States. Responsibilities include cable preparation, termination, fusion-splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre optic networks.

This role involves travel across the Atlantic provinces, with company-provided accommodations and daily per diem. The position requires a willingness to travel, working at least 40 hours per week, and holding a valid driver’s license and a reasonable driver’s abstract.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Splicing aerial and buried fibre optic networks
  • Testing and troubleshooting fibre optic networks
  • Documenting and reporting work completed
  • Maintaining project and safety documentation
  • Ensuring all work is clearly labelled
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, and isolation
  • Physically demanding work including ladder climbing and handling heavy equipment
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, and organized
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license (Class DZ/Class 3) with airbrakes endorsement or willingness to obtain it
  • Reasonable driver’s abstract
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call-outs
  • Ability to travel with company-provided accommodations and per diem
  • Pass a criminal record check
  • Authorized to work without visa sponsorship
Experience Required
  • 3+ years of live circuit experience
  • Experience with single fibre splicing and mass fusion splicing in outside plant fibre networks
  • Proficiency with fibre optic testing tools such as power meters, OTDR, and live fibre detectors
  • Preference given to candidates with FTTX/FTTH project experience
  • Knowledge of safe approach limits in communication spaces
