Job description

The Fibre Optic Splicer Coordinator / Coordonnateur Fusionneur / épisseur de fibre optique is responsible for ensuring that all outside (OSP) and inside plant constructionis completed in a timely manner. The Fibre Optic Splicer Coordinator / Coordonnateur Fusionneur / épisseur de fibre optique will be responsible for all activities requires to deliver services to our client’s customers complete satisfaction. The Fibre Optic Splicer Coordinator / Coordonnateur Fusionneur / épisseur de fibre optique will also be responsible for the day-to-day quality inspection of the various construction contractors and inside forces completing construction activities. They will also ensure that all contractors under his/her direction work within the existing health and safety regulations and codes.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Fibre Optic Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant construction
  • Inspection experience preferred
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements.
  • 5 years of experience as a fibre optic line technician
  • 5 years of experience as a fibre optic splicer
  • Must be Bilingual (French and English)
  • Ability to read construction drawings, work orders and specifications for outside plant and inside plant construction.
  • Knowledge of aerial, underground and substructure construction.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent knowledge of utility systems and installations standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong appreciation for safety related responsibilities and work habits.
  • Experienced in effectively coordinating and planning multiple projects, executing multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently while working with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented, accurate and thorough with highly organized and exceptional administration skills.
  • Proven planning skills with the ability to “think outside the box” and see the “big picture” impact of decisions/actions.
  • Team player with solid interpersonal skills combined with a winning customer service attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and report on inside plant and outside plant work completed by staff and/or contractors.
  • Ensure all deficiencies found are corrected to industry standards and ensure plant meets current standards before construction sign-off.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders, inspect for safety and adherence to practices and procedures and participate in pre-construction meetings.
  • Investigate field problems and any customer concerns.
  • Update and prepare reports, records and documents pertaining to each project.
  • Maintain familiarity with pertinent safety regulations in order to inspect installations for proper procedures and safety compliance.
  • Work with the Corporate Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure compliance with the legislation.
  • Monitor and report on project status daily.
  • Make recommendations for alternate construction methods.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and maintain active records.
  • Interface between customers and field crews.
  • Must be available for “on call emergency” rotation.
  • Physical Demands and Visual Acuity

Hours – 7AM – 3PM, 8AM – 4PM Monday – Friday with on call responsibilities every third week

This is a permanent position located in Montreal, QC with a salary of $60,000.00 – $75,000.00 per annum.
