By joining us, you will be contributing to the future of sustainable high-performance compute and the local communities we strive to have a positive impact on.

We are currently looking for a Structured Cabling & Fiber Optic Technician Lead to join our Prince George site team, leading the technicians responsible for fiber cleaning/inspection, structured cabling installation, and testing across our high-performance compute environment.

We value diverse perspectives and believe that skills can be developed. If you’re passionate about this role, we want to hear from you — whether you meet every criteria or not. Your unique experiences might be exactly what we need!

Job Requirements
  • Post secondary education/certification in a relevant field such as telecommunications, fiber optics, electronics, or network cabling
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience installing, splicing, testing, and cleaning/inspecting fiber optic cabling — including MPO/MTP and high‑speed breakout assemblies — in a data center or telecommunications environment, including at least 1‑2 years in a lead, supervisory, or senior technician capacity
  • Hands‑on proficiency with fusion splicers, OTDRs, optical power meters/light sources, fiber inspection scopes and cleaning kits (IEC 61300‑3‑35), and vendor test equipment such as Fluke and EXFO for copper and fiber certification, along with familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) or cable management documentation systems
  • Industry certification such as BICSI Installer/Technician, Fiber Optic Association CFOT, or equivalent is considered a strong asset
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with site leadership, network engineering, and third‑party contractors/vendors
  • Thorough troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills for diagnosing link failures and signal loss issues
  • Superior time management and multitasking skills with a strong sense of urgency, comfortable working in a 24/7 critical‑infrastructure environment
  • Passionate and confident individual with demonstrated organization, prioritization, and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to lead and mentor a small technical team
  • Proven active listening and speaking skills
  • Experience working on complex structured cabling and fiber infrastructure projects that support high‑density, mission‑critical compute environments, with strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards
Job Responsibilities

This role carries a primary focus on fiber maintenance, inspection, and scoping to support ongoing data center needs, alongside team leadership and infrastructure project work. You will support liquid‑ and air‑cooled infrastructure powering thousands of NVIDIA B200, B300, and GB300 GPUs, connected via InfiniBand and RoCE fabrics.

Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, the Fiber Optic & Structured Cable Technician Lead is responsible for:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of structured cabling and fiber optic technicians, including scheduling, training, and quality‑checking their work on installation, splicing, termination, and testing of both single‑mode/multi‑mode fiber (including MPO/MTP connectors and 400G/800G breakout assemblies) and copper (Cat6/Cat6a) cabling across the data center
  • Owning fiber end‑face cleaning and inspection as a core team function: establishing and enforcing standardized clean‑and‑scope procedures (per IEC 61300‑3‑35 pass/fail criteria) across all technicians, ensuring every connector is inspected and certified contamination‑free before any cross‑connect, migration, or turn‑up
  • Acting as the on‑demand lead for fiber cleaning/scoping requests from L2/L3 teams: prioritizing and dispatching team members (or personally responding) to clean and scope fiber connections on short notice to support urgent network changes, troubleshooting, or pre‑deployment checks, minimizing downtime and escalation delays
  • Planning and executing end‑to‑end infrastructure builds, including backbone and horizontal cabling runs, cross‑connects, and structured cabling in support of high‑density compute racks and InfiniBand/RoCE network switch fabrics
  • Managing and maintaining meticulous cable and port mapping reports, physically tracing cables, verifying switch‑to‑server connections, and ensuring 100% documentation accuracy in site infrastructure management systems
  • Performing and reviewing OTDR, power meter, and insertion/return loss testing (e.g., EXFO) to certify fiber links, as well as copper certification testing (e.g., Fluke) for structured cabling systems
  • Actively troubleshooting and resolving physical layer issues, including signal degradation, crossed pairs, or link failures, and coordinating root‑cause analysis with the network engineering team
  • Maintaining accurate structured cabling records, labeling standards (ANSI/TIA‑606), patch panel schematics, and as‑built documentation, and ensuring all work complies with site safety procedures, cable management standards, and change management processes
  • Acting as the primary point of escalation for cabling‑related incidents, participating in an on‑call rotation, and coordinating with equipment vendors and contractors on cabling installs, moves, adds, and changes
