Base pay range

CA$20.00 / hr - CA$25.00 / hr

Location : Prince Edward County, Hasting County, and Haldimand County

TEP Canada is seeking a full-time Fiber Construction Inspector. As a Fiber Construction Inspector, you will serve as an integral member of our construction team. Summary

The Construction Inspector will be responsible for supporting the project management team of construction activities for aerial, buried & underground fiber optic cable facilities. Must communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, drafters, and administrative personnel to ensure that projects are successfully completed on time.

Responsibilities :

  • Work both in an office and field environment supporting the management of construction activities for aerial, buried & underground fiber optic cable facilities
  • Work on-site with crews daily (in varied weather conditions)
  • Ensure correct depths, placement, sequential numbering (every two feet stamped into cabling), and that the correct number of pedestals / handholes are installed in the desired locations
  • Measure and record installed quantities regularly in coordination with multiple construction crews
  • Manage and drive quality standards according to project specifications
  • Operate and maintain field equipment such as GNSS surveying units, laptops, height sticks, cameras, PPE, etc.
  • Communicate effectively daily with project managers, engineers, drafters, and administrative personnel
  • Perform administrative tasks as required
  • Identify construction conflicts or proposed changes and develop solutions with design engineers and project managers
  • Provide quality control to ensure construction and engineering standards are met
  • Interact with landowners, permit agencies, and other departments
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Availability to mobilize when scheduled, valid driver’s license, and a clean MVR (last 7 years)
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions and climates
  • Skilled at managing tasks with minimal supervision
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to stand, bend, squat, walk, lift, and carry equipment (>20lb) for the workday

Additional Skills :

  • Knowledge of telecommunication and electrical systems, engineering principles, constructability, and design standards is a plus
  • Ability to read schematics, maps, and work prints
  • Experience with GIS, CAD, or LiDAR is a plus but not required
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, integrity, and team spirit
  • Ability to suggest improvements in field processes positively
  • Keep project managers informed about project status and issues
  • Travel up to 80% required
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
