Job Title: Fertility Nurse - Full Time

Position: Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) / Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Boardwalk Medical Centre 1, Waterloo

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Benefits: Paid time off, Bonus pay

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am-3pm (rotating weekend coverage; 1 Saturday, 1 Sunday per month); annual clinic shutdown between Christmas Day and New Years Day

Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) that is interested in beginning a long-term career in fertility nursing. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional nursing care to our patients throughout their fertility journey. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the success of our patients' fertility treatments. In this autonomous role, the successful candidate must possess strong critical thinking/problem-solving and be a self-directed individual.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide nursing care to patients undergoing fertility treatments, including administering medications, conducting IUI procedures, and delivering patient medication teaching.
  2. Perform hands-on fertility-related assessments, including focused transvaginal ultrasound monitoring (3D machine) and blood draws.
  3. Acquire and develop unique technical skills such as processing lab samples (semen and blood), running and maintaining lab equipment.
  4. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients throughout the fertility treatment process.
  5. Participate in ongoing professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in the continually evolving landscape of fertility care.
  6. Ensure accurate documentation of patient information, protocol forms, and nursing notes.
  7. Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to infection control protocols and best practices.

Qualifications:

  1. Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  2. Maintain annual membership with RNAO/RPNAO.
  3. Current or willingness to obtain BCLS/ACLS certification.
  4. No fertility nursing experience required; however, the successful candidate must be a confident learner and able to grasp new concepts quickly.
  5. Venipuncture experience or eagerness to learn.
  6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and maintaining attention to detail.
  7. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey empathy.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  10. Exceptional work attendance.
