Assistant Preconditioning Feedyard Manager

What you will be doing :

  • Working closely with senior leadership to set the direction and priorities of operations, including objectives around: consultants, pen maintenance, animal health, cattle placement, ration formulation, budgeting, and yard visits.
  • Collaborating with management and consultants to ensure recommendations are implemented effectively.
  • Partnering with the human resources director to ensure all safety and employee initiatives are executed.
  • Communicating with cattle procurement regarding placement of cattle based on feedlot capacity and projected demand for cattle by out date.
  • Regularly reviewing key cattle performance indicators such as dry matter intake, average daily gain, conversions, maximizing grid, medicine costs, out of programs, morbidity rate, and mortality rate, along with action plans to improve these metrics.

A successful candidate for the Assistant Feedyard Manager position will possess the following :

  • Experience in cattle feedlot operations with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven results in the feedlot industry.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data and working with numbers.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
