Job description

Who we are:

The GVF Group of Companies empowers farmers to produce meat, milk, and eggs profitably and sustainably for the advancement of human lives, nutrition, and health.

Founded in 1960, Grand Valley Fortifiers specializes in the formulation, manufacture, and sale of high-quality, leading-edge mineral premixes for swine, dairy, beef, and poultry producers. We create opportunities for livestock & poultry farms to be more profitable by providing innovative products, programs, and services which lower feeding and livestock producers' costs, maximize animal performance, and increase nutritional and commercial value of our customers' products; meat, milk, and eggs.

Ours is a family business that cares about its employees and its community. We make sure that all our staff get what the best in class team members deserve: benefits, good wages, and respect. Whether through our charitable work or our dedication to staff, GVF is committed to living out our principles and values.

Why we have this role:

Our delivery team helps to deliver feed on-farm and strives to build positive and long-lasting relationships with customers. This is not simply a “pick up and drop off” delivery department. We’re so much more than that. As a key member of our delivery team, you will make on-farm deliveries operating with a high level of professionalism, customer service, and care and will take care of general maintenance and repairs of your truck. As the successful candidate for this role, you will be organized, efficient, have great attention to detail, be mechanically inclined, and have great communication and problem-solving skills.

Working with us:

This is a permanent, full-time position operating out of our production facility at 486 Main Street, Cambridge, Ontario. Delivery staff must arrive on-site in Cambridge by or before 6:30 am and must be on the road by 7:00 am. Each member of the delivery team works until their deliveries are complete and has returned their truck to the GVF yard. As part of the delivery team, you may be scheduled one day off per week (besides Saturday or Sunday) but are encouraged to be available on your day off during the week or for Saturday deliveries if necessary.

What you'll do:

  • Safely, accurately, and efficiently transport, deliver, and unload bulk and bag feed on farm.
  • Check customer directions and customer on-farm instructions to avoid delivery errors.
  • Follow customers' instructions where applicable and comply with protocols.
  • Maintain the delivery equipment to ensure it's fit for operation, reporting anything that doesn’t appear to be safe or functioning well.
  • Conduct regular routine maintenance on the equipment.
  • Build positive long-lasting relationships and consistently remain in good standing with customers.
  • Always adhere to good delivery, driving, bio-security, and health and safety practices and protocols.
  • Work closely with customers, internal departments, and team members including delivery, sales, customer service, loading, production, and warehousing.
  • Attend team meetings and town halls to stay up-to-date and well-informed about GVF products, services, and overall business initiatives.

Your background includes:

  • 2+ years of relevant working experience in a similar role.
  • A Valid DZ or AZ Driver’s License in good standing is a must.
  • A Clean Driver's Abstract.
  • Physically fit with the ability to repetitively lift 25 kg bags.
  • General knowledge of farming and agriculture is an asset.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Passion for farming and agriculture.

Why work with us:

  • Canadian Family-Owned and Operated Company.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Extended health and dental benefits.
  • RRSP matching program.
  • Profit sharing bonus.
  • Donation matching program.
  • Store discount at Valley Feeds.
  • Gain hands-on experience and continuous professional development.
  • Be part of a company that values integrity, innovation, and giving back.

How we behave:

  • Passion: Serving customers innovatively and well.
  • Humble Confidence: Confidently choosing to forgo our status, deploy our resources, and use of influence for the good of others before ourselves.
  • Integrity: Consistently honest while honoring commitments with our customers, co-workers, and suppliers.
  • Professional: Committed to excellence in the way we lead, serve, and relate.
  • Caring: With a servant heart, truly caring for customers and co-workers. Find satisfaction in assisting with others’ challenges and joy in witnessing their success.

All interested applicants are asked to apply with a copy of their resume. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only candidates considered for the position will be contacted for an interview.
