Job summary

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a half-time Educational Assistant (EA) to support students in various developmental areas under teacher guidance. The role involves implementing classroom programs, assisting with literacy and numeracy, and supervising students during activities.

The successful candidate must hold an Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma and be prepared to work in ECS settings, with duties including communication and behavior support as needed.

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is looking for a half-time Educational Assistant in ECS.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• Support students' growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development


• Support and/or implement teacher directed programming


• Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and other member of the multi-disciplinary team


• Implement specialist (OT, PT, SLP, etc) strategies to achieve required goals


• Able to work with student to implement and support literacy/numeracy


• Toileting routines if required


• Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies


• Work and play at student's physical level of their activities


• Swim program, if required


• Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe


• Physical ability to lift and move students


• Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision

Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct, obsessive/compulsive, trauma and stress related, severe chronic depressive, feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning and speech & language-related disabilities, etc may be encountered.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
