Job summary

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant in ECS to support students’ growth in cognition, communication, physical and social development and to assist with teacher-directed programming.

The successful candidate will have an Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma and NVCI Level A&B, work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, and help implement the Positive Behaviour Plan, starting ASAP for 25–31 hours per week.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• Support students' growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development
• Support and/or implement teacher directed programming
• Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and members of a multi-disciplinary team
• Implement specialist (OT, PT, SLP, etc) strategies to achieve required goals
• Implement behaviour management and educational strategies that facilitate student learning
• Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies
• Observe student behaviour with focus on achieving positive behavioural/educational outcomes and mitigate/prevent negative onesProvide high level of structure to facilitate completion of required learning outcomes
• Work and play at student's physical level of their activities
• Provide support in use of adaptive and learning technologies using a variety of devices and associated programs
• Successfully implement the Positive Behaviour Plan(PBP), if required
• Medical Procedures – such as Catheter, Tube feeding, Feeding and swallowing support, or diabetic monitoring
• Able to understand, implement and support modified curriculum
• Able to work with and support students with Autism or complex medical needs
• Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe
• Physical ability to lift and move students
• Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision
• Swim Program
• Access to vehicle & valid driver's license
