Job Title : Fatigue Management Consultant (Occupational Health & Safety Background)

Job Type : Part time and full time

Industry : Occupational Health & Safety / Risk Management / Consulting

Position Summary :

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Fatigue Management Consultant with a strong background in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to join our team in British Columbia. This role involves the development, implementation, and evaluation of fatigue risk management systems (FRMS) for clients across a variety of industries, including transportation, mining, construction, and healthcare.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of OHS principles and regulatory compliance, along with a passion for improving worker well-being and organizational performance through fatigue risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement comprehensive Fatigue Risk Management Systems (FRMS) aligned with standards and industry best practices.
  • Conduct fatigue risk assessments , including data collection, workplace observations, and stakeholder interviews.
  • Provide expert consultation, training, and workshops to client organizations on fatigue management strategies.
  • Analyze work schedules, shift patterns, and operational demands to identify fatigue-related hazards.
  • Collaborate with health and safety teams to integrate fatigue management into existing OHS programs .
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fatigue mitigation measures and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Stay informed about regulatory developments , industry standards, and emerging research.
  • Prepare reports, risk profiles, and recommendations tailored to client needs.
  • Support incident investigations where fatigue may have been a contributing factor.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Industrial Hygiene, Kinesiology, or a related OHS field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in human factors or fatigue management
  • Experience developing or implementing FRMS or related health and safety programs.
  • Strong communication and training skills; able to engage with diverse stakeholders from frontline staff to senior leadership.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, fatigue modeling software) is an asset.

Preferred Attributes :

  • Familiarity with shift work, extended hours, and remote work environments .
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client relationships.
  • Ability to travel as required for work projects.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, wellness, and performance.
  • Knowledge of cognitive and behavioral aspects of fatigue and sleep health.
  • Knowledge of organizational risk management

Working Conditions :

  • Primarily office-based with travel to client sites as needed (local, national, international)
