Product Designer Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Create, develop, and execute products aligned with the initial fashion concept and merchandise strategy.
  2. Develop assortments from concept to reality, ensuring they match the brand image and customer profile.
  3. Research fabric, yarn, and trim trends, projecting fashion essentials and silhouettes seasonally.
  4. Collaborate with buyers and production managers to develop fashion-forward, salable products that enhance the brand and meet profit goals.
  5. Be financially responsible for sales and profit outcomes of your product lines.
  6. Travel to fabric trade shows, markets, and retail landscapes to identify suitable materials and styles.
  7. Conduct research using online trend services and retail sources; prepare presentation boards to communicate ideas to senior team members.
  8. Express your point of view to educate team members on commodity specifics and gain buy-in.
  9. Interpret fashion forecasts in line with merchandise planning and customer preferences, using samples and fashion tear sheets.
  10. Meet development timelines for each collection phase.
  11. Develop products and initiate tech pack processes, ensuring all details are accurately documented and timely.
  12. Coordinate the hand-off of tech packs to technical designers and production managers, outlining garment needs.
  13. Edit the product line collaboratively with senior designers, VP of Design, and buyers, communicating changes to production teams.
  14. Maintain retail samples for presentations, fittings, and concept reviews.
  15. Create style boards illustrating silhouettes, colors, fabrics, and patterns.
  16. Provide clear and timely communication to the design team, buyers, and production managers.
  17. Participate in fit approvals, ensuring aesthetic and technical standards are met.

Qualifications:
