We are recruiting! If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to grow your career and want to work with a skilled team, then this is the role for you! Join the Mowi Canada East Inc. Saltwater Team as a Farm Technician at our remote Bays West farm sites on the South Coast of Newfoundland.

ABOUT THE JOB

At Mowi, we work with the ocean to produce nutritious, delicious and supreme-quality seafood. We fulfill one fifth of global demand for farm-raised Atlantic salmon. Working for Mowi means joining a team of people who pride themselves on driving change and are committed to making a difference.

In the Farm Technician role you will report to the Farm Manager and provide support to the farm site through general husbandry for the full lifecycle of the fish from smolt intakes, to growth, to harvest. This includes feeding the fish, fish health and welfare, fish transfers and treatments, sampling, sea lice reporting, assisting with grid and net installation and repair, site maintenance, site security, fish monitoring and inspection, boat handling around the farm, and all other general farm tasks to keep the farm running successfully.

This is a permanent, full-time position and offers on site living accommodations with a shift schedule of two weeks on, two weeks off.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidates would be safety oriented and willing to work in a team environment with a passion for the industry. They would have:

  • Related education or experience within the industry would be considered an asset
  • Physical ability to complete repetitive tasks
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working in remote locations, outside and on the water
  • Able to work a two week on, two week off shift and live onsite in the company accommodations
  • Able to work safely and effectively in challenging outdoor weather
  • Physical capability to complete repetitive tasks and handle material up to 25kg
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
  • Marine related training certificates would be an asset
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada
