Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a
Farm Equipment Operator. This role involves operating a variety of farm machinery, supporting crop production, and performing general farm duties. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, adaptable, and a strong team player. Strong consideration will be given to individuals with basic farming knowledge and a willingness to learn.
Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter with exceptional attention to detail who holds a valid G driver’s license (AZ or DZ an asset). This is a full-time position with variable hours during peak seasons. Evening, weekend, and overtime work is required, especially during planting and harvest periods. Work schedules will adjust based on seasonal demands. Please note the agriculture sector is exempt from paying overtime rates; employees are compensated at their regular rate.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Operate tractors, harvesters, and other farm equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with planting, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting crops.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on machinery (e.g., oil levels, tire pressure, cleaning).
- Follow instructions from supervisors and work collaboratively with team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Drive grain and potato trucks for farm hauling duties.
- Operate vehicles in compliance with municipal regulations and company policies.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and equipment, addressing mechanical or safety issues.
- Apply fertilizers and pesticides to various field locations (certifications provided).
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
- Adapt to changing tasks, weather conditions, and seasonal demands.
- Carry out other general farm labor tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating farm machinery is preferred.
- Valid G driver’s license (DZ or AZ is an asset).
- Pesticide or applicator’s license is an asset.
- Strong understanding of farm safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
- Willingness to work flexible hours during peak seasons
