The WCCFSC Family Support Programs focus on providing support to families experiencing stressors that create barriers to a healthy family life. The Support Worker supports families in areas such as parenting, daily living skills, facilitating family visits, wellness, and accessing community resources. The Support Worker often works within the family's home to help increase family strengths and resources, aiming to prevent out-of-home placement of children or work toward family reunification. The role involves creating flexible, client-centered care plans tailored to the needs of families within the Family Programs.

WCCFSC Family Support Workers report directly to the Family Support Coordinator and collaborate with the Ministry of Social Services-Child & Family Programs. This position plays a key role in supporting families to care for their children in a safe and nurturing environment.

Qualifications:

  • Human Services Experience and Education is an asset;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Competency in computer skills;
  • Familiarity with systemic barriers faced by vulnerable families;
  • Knowledge of and belief in harm reduction philosophies;
  • Frontline experience working with vulnerable families or children;
  • Must have a personal vehicle and be willing to travel;
  • Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector) required;
  • Drivers Abstract required upon request.
