Starting Salary Range: $55,956.29 to $64,568.95.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Family Support Worker is responsible for providing support alongside front-line staff regarding children, youth, and families in care or customary care. Family Support Workers assist with case management duties, monitor court-ordered family visits, support families involved with child wellbeing services, and undertake social service responsibilities that complement the role of the worker.

Responsibilities
  • Providing support during community outings for children/youth.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of children/youth under care.
  • Assisting in executing plans for children, youth, or families as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Documenting detailed case notes.
  • Modeling appropriate behaviors and language.
  • Providing transportation as directed.
  • Encouraging positive communication with children, youth, and families.
  • Empowering families to feel valued.
  • Supervising access visits.
  • Reporting any child/youth at risk or needing protection immediately.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Education and Experience: Diploma in Human Services with at least one year of relevant experience or a Human Service Certificate with at least three years of experience. Experience in Child Welfare or Indigenous Child-Wellbeing is an asset.

Availability

Office hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Staff may work outside these hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on client needs.
